Authorities in Gibraltar have launched an investigation into an explosion onboard a Chinese-owned capesize bulker that occurred on Friday.

Four crew members were injured in the incident aboard the Hong Kong-flagged 120,600-dwt CSSC Cape Town (built 2020), the Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) confirmed.

Two crew members were treated aboard the vessel by paramedics from the Gibraltar Health Authority, while the other two were evacuated for urgent treatment at a local hospital.
