LNG carrier newbuilding orders climb to 60 in 2019

Sixty LNG carrier newbuildings were contracted in 2019, the fourth largest annual haul of ships on record, according to brokers.

In a year of low contracting in other vessel sectors, data compiled by TradeWinds from shipbuilders, brokers and manufacturers shows contracts for 50 large LNG carrier newbuildings were inked, with a further 10 orders signed for small tonnage of less than 20,000 cbm.
