Stena Line has cut fuel use by between 2% and 3% by trialling artificial intelligence (AI) to predict the most efficient use of bunkers.
The pilot project has been so successful that it will be launched on five more ships this year.
The trial started last year on the 58,000-gt Stena Scandinavica (built 2003) between Gothenburg and Kiel.
