Offshore market chatter is off the mark in suggesting that TechnipFMC has already committed to purchasing a $120m newbuilding that has been stranded for almost two years at Vard, subsea sources tell TradeWinds.

But the talk is not too far off, both in terms of TechnipFMC as a potential buyer and the expected price range.

Interest among the large subsea contractors is already high and growing for this advanced diving support vessel (DSV), with sources describing TechnipFMC and Subsea 7 as “very safe assumptions” among potential buyers.
