Simon Mokster Shipping is fitting a battery power system to a platform supply vessel (PSV) in a bid to cut fuel consumption.
It is working with ENI to install the kit on the 4,300-dwt Stril Barents (built 2015), which supports the Goliat field.
During demanding offshore operations such as dynamic positioning, there may be greater variations in energy requirements, the company said.
