Crowley Maritime is yet another shipowner putting its chips down on the growing offshore wind sector.

The US-based owner of Jones Act vessels has entered into a joint venture with Danish shipowner Esvagt to own and operate US-flagged service operation vessels (SOVs) designed to support offshore wind-turbine installations.

Crowley said Esvagt, which owns 42 SOVs, will "share in the economics of the venture" and will advise on ship design, construction and operation.
