OSV scrapping rates have been picking up noticeably this year with around 1,100 ships in lay-up, according to figures from VesselsValue and Clarksons Research.

VesselsValue indicates that 153% more OSVs have gone for recycling in the first three months of 2018 than in the same period of last year.

Clarksons also points to a rise in OSV scrapping this year, while estimating that if the same increased demolition rate lasts, then more than 200 ships will be leaving the fleet in 2018.
