Maritime employers have made headway in their efforts to pushback against proposals to require additional financial security to ensure crew is paid during piracy incidents, the International Marine Contractors Association said.

One proposal from the ILO working group meeting would amend the MLC to require member states to enact laws that would prevent shipowners and operators from terminating seafarer employment agreements during instances of piracy or armed robbery.
