Fears are growing that a D'Alesio newbuilding has been hijacked by pirates.
Its 55,600-dwt Montecristo (built 2011) has been attacked around 450 miles off Socotra, informed sources say,
The vessel reported coming under fire from rocket propelled granades yesterday and there has since been no news from the ship.
It is not clear if the crew have taken to a citadel or if pirates managed to board the vessel.
Attempts to contact the bulker’s owner for further information on the matter were unsuccessful at the time of writing Monday.
