Kenya’s prime minister has asked Europe’s counter-piracy task force for aid in carrying out an assault against a terrorist group embedded in the Somali port town of Kismayo.

 Raila Odinga also solicited financial assistance from the US government during a press conference with foreign journalists Tuesday in which he outlined plans for an attack against al-Shabab militants.

He said EU Navfor has been “reluctant” to help the mission to neutralise an eruption of violence on Kenyan soil where as many as one million Somali refugees have flocked to avoid famine and clashes between rival factions.
