A Maersk product tanker has been targeted by robbers while at anchor off Indonesia, TradeWinds has learnt.
The incident aboard the 37,500-dwt Maersk Aegean (built 2013) happened while the ship was off Lubuk Gaung, Inner Anchorage in Dumai.
However, the robbers were only able to make off with a portable welding machine, an electric drill and an electric hacksaw.
Details of the incident were disclosed in the latest anti-piracy report published by the Singapore-based Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) Information Sharing Centre.
