Russia will build a large dry bulk port in the Syrian city of Tartus, which it says will serve as a gateway for Russian grain heading to customers in the Middle East.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said that work on the new port, as well as upgrades to Tartus's existing port, would commence next year, Interfax news agency reported.
