As the coronavirus crisis restricts movements and disrupts shipyards across the world, shipowners are pushing registries and charterers to extend deadlines for dry-dockings and vettings.

Most problems related to the pandemic are encountered in Europe now, while the situation is improving in and around China. Italy’s Fincantieri, for example, will close its shipyards for two weeks, following a request by unions to protect staff from the virus.
