A comprehensive International Maritime Organization study has revealed shipping's greenhouse gas emissions problem is worsening.
According to the Fourth IMO Greenhouse Gas Study released on Tuesday, shipping’s carbon emissions increased from 962m tonnes in 2012, the last time such a study was conducted, to nearly 1.06bn tonnes in 2018.
The study was conducted to inform the IMO’s ongoing efforts to reduce shipping emissions in line with the Paris Agreement on climate change.
