The Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems Association (EGCSA) has offered myriad reasons for scrubber retrofit delays at shipyards two weeks before IMO 2020, from yards taking on too many projects to projects lacking oversight.
The comments come after TradeWinds reported that shipowners are suffering significant delays to install the kit, which will allow vessels to continue to burn heavy fuel after a stricter sulphur cap comes into force in the new year.
