Singapore has detained two ships for falling foul of new IMO 2020 regulations, the country's maritime and port authority (MPA) confirmed on Monday.

The foreign-flagged ships, whose identity was not disclosed, were said to have been found to be using non-compliant fuel.

“They were each issued a PSC [port-state-control] detention order and were only allowed to depart Singapore after it was verified that they had switched to using compliant fuel,” the MPA said.
