A Chinese warship collided with a Taiwanese bulk carrier Wednesday night, according to Taiwan's authorities.

Taiwan's Coast Guard Administration said the unidentified warship, under command of People's Liberation Army, and Kaohsiung-registered bulk carrier Yutai No. 1 hit each other in the Taiwan Strait, Taiwan News has reported.

The accident, which damaged the cargo ship, occurred 19.5 miles southeast of Taiwan's Kinmen Island off China's southeast coast, according to the coast guard.
