The crew of a CSL bulker was involved in a rescue operation on Lake Ontario that saved a man's life, while the second man overboard died.

The crew of the 36,417-dwt CSL Welland (built 2014) noticed "objects floating in the water" while crossing the lake off Olcott, New York, on 25 August, the Canadian owner said.

Capt Wilson Walters, the ship's master, notified the US Coast Guard, activated the ship's alarm and initiated a rescue upon realising that two people were in the water.
