Agritrade Resources of Hong Kong has snapped up a VLCC from Euronav as a hedge against the difficult commodities market.

The quoted mining company announced the purchase of the 298,400-dwt Famenne (built 2001) for $38.4m in a statement to investors.

It explains the conditions in the global commodity market coupled with the persistent demand for floating storage influenced the decision to grow its ocean freight business.
