Croatian shipbuilder Uljanik has signed on to build up to two rail ferries for Kazakhstan.

The yard said it will construct the vessels for state-owned rail company JSC KTZ Express.

The ships will carry railway carriages.

The first unit is a firm order, with an option attached.

Uljanik said in a filing the initial ferry will have a capacity of 5,250 tonnes and be 155 metres long, according to the SeeNews agency.
