Clarksons Research has revealed how the new IMO 2020 low-sulphur fuel rules will be reflected in its shipping indices.
Managing director Stephen Gordon said that as the industry has transitioned to bunkers that are compliant with the new sulphur cap, it has been collecting expanded data while adjusting some of the assumptions it uses.
The research arm of London shipbroking giant Clarksons is now monitoring more bunker prices to include the new grades and to better understand some of the regional volatility of recent months, he added.
