Boxship buyers have turned their attention to the small feeder arena where a strengthening charter market has sparked renewed interest in vintage vessels and pushed up prices.
Recent sales include the 2,526-teu Wehr Havel (built 2002) that sold for $4.9m, which is about 25% higher than the prices achieved by several of its sisterships earlier this year.
The Wehr Havel is reported sold to a Greek buyer and is the last of eight sisterships of the CV 2500 design formerly in the fleet of Reederei Oskar Wehr.
