Athens-based Kassian Maritime has purchased its first tanker since 2011, providing further evidence of brisk sale activity in the sector, even from unusual corners of the market.
Several shipping and broking sources in Piraeus and London identify Kassian as buyers of the 46,000-dwt Challenge Point (built 2008).
The vesselm hitherto controlled by Japan’s Meiji Shipping, is said to have changed hands for around $14m.
