Interests linked to Andreas Hadjiyiannis have plucked their fourth and fifth containerships from Japan’s NYK Line.

Brokers said clients of Hadjiyiannis’ Cyprus Sea Lines have bought the 6,492-teu sisterships NYK Athena and NYK Aquarius (both built 2003) for $15m each.

However, TradeWinds understands that the actual acquisition price was quite a bit lower, possibly around $14m.

Following delivery of the pair, Cyprus Sea Lines will put them into five-year time charters at a freight rate in the “very high teens”, near $20,000 per day, market sources said.
