Diques Peninsulares (Dipensa) is planning South America's biggest shipyard.

The company will invest $71m over five years at the port of Progreso.

CEO Ruben Peniche Pasos said the plant will have two floating docks for the maintenance and repair of ships and platforms for the offshore oil industry, the Yucatan Times reported.

It will have 400 workers trained by Dutch shipyard group Damen.
