Jiangnan Shipyard is the oldest shipyard in China, having been established in 1867. But the China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC)-controlled shipbuilder now boasts a modern shipbuilding facility, since it relocated from Shanghai to Changxing Island 10 years ago.

Shipyard officials have welcomed the company’s newly built research and development centre building called Jiangnan Institute of Technology.

The building, which was completed late last year, houses around 1,000 employees and they make up eight departments, including Smart Shipbuilding, Vibration and Noise, Automation, Turbine, Cabin Accommodation and Gas Handling.
