TradeWinds’ favourite fully-rigged sailing ship, Christian Radich, has completed five weeks of intense drydock work to prepare it for the coming years of training young Norwegian mariners and hosting guests.

Damen Shiprepair in Harlingen cleaned its exterior and performed maintenance on its shaft and rudder trunk. It last visited Damen for work three years ago.

But the most significant element of the work was, according to Damen, the installation of a new commercial-grade galley able to feed its crew and guests.

That should be welcome news as the elegant 1937-built vessel is the regular venue for TradeWinds’ party in Oslo harbour every Nor-Shipping, with the next event due in June.

“It has been a pleasure to be entrusted with the works on board such a beautiful and sensitive vessel,” said Frank Seinen, director of Damen Shiprepair Harlingen.</p>
