Japanese shipbuilders saw order levels shrink by over 20% in gross tonnage terms year-on-year last month, official figures show.

Some 13 vessels totaling 714,400-gt were received in February 2019, latest data by the Japan Ship Exporters’ Association (JSEA) shows.

These comprised two panamaxes, three handymaxes two handysize bulkers, four ore carriers, a single chip carrier and one chemical tanker.
