European shipbuilders claim upto 1 million jobs are in danger after government level negotiations at the OECD in Paris on combatting subsidies collapsed.
The European shipyard association Sea Europe said the suspension of OECD talks last week has left its members without a defence against subsidies in the Far East.
It is calling on the European Union (EU) to set up new trade rules and a defence mechanism so that European yards can protect themselves.
