South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has bagged three VLCC newbuildings worth $282m.

Shipbuilding sources suggest that two as-yet undisclosed Asian companies are behind the orders for the 300,000-dwt crude tankers.

Officials at Hyundai Samho did not want to disclose the details about the orders, citing contract confidentiality.

Informed shipbuilding sources say the Asian companies have ordered conventional VLCCs, and are due to take delivery of them during the second quarter of 2021.
