China's Jiangsu New Hantong is ending its tanker market hiatus by forging an contract for a chemical and product carrier for German shipowner Carl Buttner.
The deal will see the Jiangsu-based shipyard build a 38,000-dwt newbuilding for delivery in mid-2020. The order includes an option for an additional vessel.
Hantong president Meng Chengjun confirmed the order, adding that the tanker contract is the shipyard’s first in the sector since late 2018.
