Greek owner Lou Kollakis is turning his attention to ultramax newbuildings, according to shipbrokers.

His Chartworld Shipping is said to have signed a letter-of-intent (LOI) with China’s Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding for what could run to six vessels.

The deal is reported to involve two firm 63,500-dwt units and options for four more.

The vessels, built to IMO Tier 2 standards, are said to be costing $24m each for delivery in the first months of 2020.
