Japan’s Oshima Shipbuilding is preparing to build low-emission capesize bulk carriers at a giant newbuilding facility which it is set to acquire from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

Oshima management outlined its hopes for the Koyagi Shipyard — which it has agreed to finally take over from MHI this year for an undisclosed price — at a Tokyo press conference.

The yard is located near Oshima’s main plant in the northwest region of the island of Kyushu.
