PHP Family has emerged as the Bangladeshi breaker that will demolish an Eastern Pacific Shipping VLOC that was sold for green demolition last week.
The shipbreaker is the only one in the country to have earned a statement of compliance with the Hong Kong Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships from Japanese classification society ClassNK.
The demolition deal for the 266,000-dwt Handan Steel (built 1994) is the first PHP has struck since it was awarded the statement of compliance.
