Sasebo Heavy Industries, one of Japan's largest shipbuilding facilities, is switching over to repair and navy work following delivery of its final newbuilding contract.

The Nagasaki-based shipyard this week delivered the 81,400-dwt Tolmi to Greek manager Vrontados Shipping. The yard currently has no further newbuilding work lined up.

Sasebo, owned by compatriot Namura Shipbuilding, announced its decision to quit the shipbuilding market in February last year as it struggled to compete with low-cost rivals in China and South Korea.
