Yamanishi Shipbuilding, which survived Japan's 2011 earthquake and tsunami, has finally collapsed under the weight of the newbuilding slump.
The shipyard, based in Ishinomaki, has filed for corporate rehabilitation at the Tokyo District Court under Japan’s bankruptcy laws.
The decision comes nine years after it was nearly completely destroyed by one of Japan’s largest ever natural disasters.
