Dutch owner Van Oord has signed up for two new water-injection dredgers at a domestic yard.
The 300-gt vessels will be delivered from late 2020 by Kooiman Marine Group.
The multifunctional units come with a hybrid system that can store energy in batteries from residual heat that is normally lost.
This energy is subsequently used for purposes including propulsion. Diesel-electric engines will also reduce CO2 emissions.
