A very large ethane carrier (VLEC) newbuilding being built at a South Korean shipyard has been damaged by Typhoon Maysak.

Shipbuilding sources said the 98,000-cbm vessel, which is under construction at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), is "badly damaged" after its cargo tanks and engine room were flooded.

Areas of the vessel were flooded and the quayside also sustained damage. Photo: Contributed
