A combination of sanctions and decarbonisation threatens a sharp rise in legal disputes as shipping scrambles to understand the implications of new fuels and wider rules, according to the UK Defence Club.
The club, a unique mutual that focuses on legal costs for shipowners, said the industry is facing a “challenging claims environment … on a number of fronts” in the coming years as legal costs rise.
