When protection and indemnity clubs North P&I and Standard Club announced plans to merge in March 2022, the new leadership made clear the resulting organisation was looking to add influence to new-found market power.
The merged club would act “as a powerful voice” for shipowners, their best interests and their growing needs, then Standard chief executive Jeremy Grose said.
The timing highlighted how important that stance would be.
