Digital channels have been the saviour of business throughout the pandemic. Without the capacity to connect, plan and execute undertakings in the virtual space our industry would have run aground, and fast.
But there’s only so much you can achieve chained to a screen.
To truly get to know someone, to understand an innovation, to form the sort of bonds where partnerships are established, contracts are signed and mutual trust is gained – well, there really is no substitute for physical, face-to-face, contact.
And, after around 18 months of enforced captivity, we could all do with logging into real life for a change.
That’s why this Nor-Shipping, taking place 10-13 January 2022, is the most important ever.
The restrictions that kept us apart are finally lifting. The national measures here in Norway - in place for 561 long days - are simply no more. That means no limits on social and business gatherings (indoors or out), no social distancing, and international travel that, for the majority, is free from restrictions.
In other words, it means we’re free to run a “normal” Nor-Shipping; welcoming 50,000 decision-makers from around to the world to Oslo and our exhibition halls in Lillestrøm, where close to 900 companies, from 50 countries, will showcase the very latest innovations, services and expertise.
This will be the first major exhibition to gather the complete spectrum of ocean industry and maritime stakeholders in a single place since the start of the pandemic. Coming on the back of COP26, where we must find the strategy and solutions to navigate a sustainable future, this couldn’t be more crucial.
Planning for potential
So, the stage is set, and we await the key actors, you.
This will be the place where all the ideas, ambitions and energy that have been pent up in our community can be released – with meetings, knowledge sharing events, networking and more. Connections can be formed, often spontaneous ones, that could never be created over Teams, Zoom, FaceTime, or any other channel that’s not face-to-face.
This is the industry’s platform to build future success. This is Your Arena for Ocean Solutions.
Let’s look at a small selection of what’s in store…
Blue Economy Hall: This innovative and immersive space is focused on showcasing and enabling the solutions, technologies, and partnerships capable of unlocking sustainable ocean business success. Expect ambitious leaders from the worlds of maritime, finance, energy, innovation and industry to gather to exhibit, hold Blue Talks and plot future opportunities.
Ocean Leadership Conference: Around 800 C-level ocean decision-makers will mingle at Nor-Shipping’s newly refurbished Nova Studios to access the very latest insights from globally renowned leaders, experts and ocean space authorities. A unique networking and knowledge-sharing opportunity.
After Work at Aker Brygge: When the evening comes join your colleagues for fine food, drink and company in one of the Norwegian capital’s hottest locations. Networking, partner events and just having fun are the order of the day, rebooting old relationships and forming new ones as the ocean community (finally) gets together again.
Nor-Shipping 2022 takes place from 10-13 January and is focused on the main theme of taking positive #ACTION within the ocean space. The event week is based around Norges Varemesse’s 22,500sq ft exhibition halls in Lillestrøm, with seminars, panel debates, conferences and social gatherings taking place both there and in nearby Oslo.
The main exhibition: 22,500 sq ft of carefully planned exhibition halls map out the huge business potential of the ocean space, with a huge spectrum of exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations, expertise and opportunity. Get ‘hands-on’ with the future here.
And there’s so much more on the horizon in Norway this January.
