The Union of Greek Shipowners (UGS) has welcomed the thrust of the European Union’s new industrial policy but urged the bloc to avoid going solo in efforts that would disrupt global coordination of the maritime sector.

In the Clean Industrial Deal (CID), unveiled on 26 February, the European Commission said it would tackle climate action and the bloc’s industrial competitiveness in one go, pledging to invest additional sums into decarbonisation research and technology.
