Mitsui OSK Lines is opening an office in Washington DC as it seeks more influence in a city it describes as the “centre of global policymaking”.
The huge Japanese shipowner said on Thursday that it would set up a base in the US capital through its subsidiary MOL (Americas) from 1 June.
MOL claims to have the world’s second-largest fleet, with a strong focus on international shipping.
