Sinokor Merchant Marine is believed to be in talks to build VLCCs at a major South Korean shipyard.

The low-profile shipowner is working on an order for two 300,000-dwt crude oil tankers at Hyundai Heavy Industries, say industry sources.

The vessels, which may comply with IMO Tier-III NOx regulations, are scheduled for late 2019 delivery. The price tag is not disclosed but one expert estimates it would cost between $83m and $84m apiece for a standard VLCC at HHI.
