Avin tied to purchase of VLCC as prices hold

Avin International is said to be behind a $21m purchase of a VLCC from International Energy Transport, a subsidiary of Japan's MOL.

The Universal Shipbuilding-constructed, 300,257-dwt Rokkosan (built 2003) is due for special survey in October.

The price is in-line with the last done-deal for VLCCs of this age. The Japanese-built, 298,000-dwt VLCC Nichinori (built 2002) was sold last year for $21m ahead of its next special survey.
