Hellenic Tankers is the latest shipowner to have picked off assets from the fleet of bankrupt Toisa as Greek buyers dominate the sell-off.

Brokers and shipmanagement sources said the expanding Athens company has bought the New Century Shipbuilding-constructed, 73,000-dwt tankers United Carrier and United Ambassador (both built 2007) for $10.3m each.

That is 25% less than the price for a similar ship sold in January, when Norwegian finance house Pareto bought the Chinese-built, 73,000-dwt tanker King Darius (built 2007), which has been renamed Cape Taura.
