Evangelos Marinakis-backed Capital Maritime & Trading is said to be paying about $100m for a pair of aframax tanker newbuildings.

As TradeWinds reported on its web edition, the Greek shipowner is said to have commissioned South Korea’s Daehan Shipbuilding to construct two 114,000-dwt crude tankers for delivery in the middle of 2020.

Shipbuilding sources said Capital Maritime's aframaxes will be built to the IMO's Tier II emission standards and will be fitted with scrubbers.
