US president Donald Trump is reported to be “actively considering waivers” on sanctions on Iranian oil imports for some countries ahead of the November deadline.

The US administration is “in the midst of an internal process” of considering significant reduction exemptions, Reuters reported quoting an unnamed government official.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in India last month that the US would consider waivers and that some buyers of Iranian oil would take a “little bit of time” to unwind their trade with Iran

The US administration is “prepared to work with countries that are reducing their imports on a case-by-case basis,” the official added.
