Phillips 66 (P66) and Koch Industries — two US charterers that own large refining operations — are taking more crude tankers on period contracts after their recent spree.

According to European shipbrokers, P66 has taken the Samsung Heavy Industries-built, 116,000-dwt aframaxes NS Laguna (built 2007) and NS Lotus (built 2008) from Sovcomflot (SCF Group) subsidiary Novoship for one year at $15,000 per day.
