China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) is to expand its VLCC fleet with four newbuildings.

The Shanghai-listed outfit's parent company, state conglomerate China Merchants Group, approved the order but stated that the crude carriers must not cost in excess of $85m each.

Details of the order, including the identity of the shipyard and delivery dates for the vessels, have not been disclosed.
